Kansas Department of Transportation Schedules Public Meeting for South Lawrence Trafficway; Aug. 8 Meeting to Review and Solicit Input on Environmental Issues
Topeka -- The Kansas Department of Transportation will host a public meeting regarding environmental issues related to the South Lawrence Trafficway on Wednesday, August 8th, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Douglas County Commission Chambers, 1100 Massachusetts Road. The meeting is part of the KDOT environmental review and documentation process for the South Lawrence Trafficway leg of K-10.
Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to review the following information:
Where the South Lawrence Trafficway might go - The five conceptual alignments that are under consideration will be presented for further review and comment.
What the South Lawrence Trafficway might look like - A number of conceptual designs have been sketched out to allow engineers and planners the opportunity to evaluate with greater precision the potential impacts of the South Lawrence Trafficway.
What historical, cultural and environmental issues have been identified so far - Experts on various subjects, including historical and cultural issues, wetland management and mitigation, and traffic engineering will be present to answer questions and discuss issues.
The meeting will be an open house and individuals may visit anytime during the meeting. There will be no formal presentation. Attendees may submit written comments for the study record if they wish.
his public meeting is one of two scheduled for the month of August. The second meeting, scheduled for Aug. 30, will take place at the Douglas County Fairgrounds and will allow interested parties the opportunity to make formal comments on the scope of this study.
